Bangkok, Kanchanaburi and Ayutthaya: 3 Days and 2 Nights - Package
Your detailed itinerary
Day 1 – Traditional markets and World War II history
Departure from Bangkok at 07:00 AM. The day begins at Maeklong Railway Market, where stalls are set directly along an active railway line. As the train approaches, vendors quickly fold back their parasols and clear the tracks, reopening their stalls moments after the train passes, offering a rare glimpse into everyday local life.
The journey continues to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, one of Thailand’s most well-known water markets. Located along a historic canal commissioned by King Rama IV and completed under King Rama V, the market reflects a trading tradition that has existed for over a century. A boat ride through the canals allows you to see vendors selling fruits and local products directly from their boats.

In the afternoon, arrival in Kanchanaburi to visit the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery (Don Rak Cemetery), a peaceful memorial honoring nearly 7,000 Allied prisoners of war who died during the construction of the Death Railway. The site offers a quiet moment of reflection on the human cost of World War II in Southeast Asia.
Lunch is served by the River Kwai, with views of the historic bridge. The itinerary then includes a walk across the Bridge over the River Kwai, one of Thailand’s most important World War II landmarks, later restored after heavy wartime damage. Nearby, a short stop is made at the Tham Krasae Railway Bridge, built along a steep cliff above the river under extreme conditions.
The day ends with a scenic ride on the Death Railway, a stretch of track built under severe hardship, where thousands of prisoners and laborers lost their lives. Overnight at Camp Hintok River Kwai (or similar). Breakfast included. Dinner at leisure.

Day 2 – Erawan National Park and return to Bangkok
After breakfast, departure at 09:00 AM to Erawan National Park, established in 1975 and covering over 550 square kilometers of forested hills. The park’s main attraction is Erawan Waterfall, a seven-tier cascade named after the three-headed white elephant of Hindu mythology.
You will visit the first waterfall level (R1), known for its turquoise pools, ideal for swimming and photos, surrounded by dense jungle and natural sounds. The area offers a refreshing contrast to the historical sites of the previous day.
Lunch at a local restaurant near the park, followed by a transfer to Ayutthaya, the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam.
Check-in at Classic Kameo Hotel (or similar). Dinner at leisure.

Day 3 – Ayutthaya temples, Purple Temple, and return to Bangkok
After breakfast, explore Ayutthaya’s most significant historical temples. Visit Wat Yai Chai Mongkol, known for its towering stupa and rows of seated Buddhas, followed by Wat Mahathat, famous for the Buddha head entwined in tree roots.
Continue to Wat Chai Watthanaram, one of Ayutthaya’s most iconic riverside temples, reflecting Khmer-influenced architecture and royal history.
The route then includes Wat Klang Khlong Watthana Ram, also known as the Purple Temple, a unique modern temple distinguished by its vibrant purple ordination hall, blending contemporary design with Buddhist tradition.
The final stop is Wat Muang in Ang Thong, home to one of Thailand’s largest Buddha images. The massive golden statue, standing 95 meters tall, dominates the landscape and is visible from a great distance, symbolizing spiritual strength and devotion.
Lunch at a local restaurant near the temples. Return to Bangkok in the afternoon, with an estimated arrival around 06:00 PM.
